The Terraces
Built for UK based clients prior to their permanent move back to Wanaka, this residence’s timeless, old world style was inspired by the owners’ own collection of furniture, gathered from around the globe.
Sorted Architecture worked alongside a landscape architect to hone in on a perfect sheltered location for the house, amidst a one acre rural corner site that featured significant clusters of mature manuka and kanuka trees. Existing vegetation and new planting became instrumental in enabling the use of Oamaru stone for the construction, given the need to mitigate light reflections against white façade walls.
Inside, the house offers comfortable family living space including two sitting rooms, one upstairs, one downstairs as well as three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The ground floor gives the lion’s share to entertaining space including a living room with corner bar, a dining room and conservatory. The house’s two levels are connected with a hydraulic lift. Underfloor heating downstairs and radiators on the upper floor enable the family to enjoy a cozy home year round, with easy heat control.
A large double garage internally linked to the house, a separate boat parking and garden shed provide the family with ample storage facilities.
