Mt Aspiring Road

Given its prominent Wanaka lakeshore location, it was important that this residence designed for international air pilot and Red Devil leader Ray Hanna blend in its environment.  Materials, shapes and colours were carefully chosen with this imperative in mind.

Inspired by the traditional Central Otago style, the house features recycled kauri throughout including in the joinery. Recycled hardwood post and beams were used in the entrance construction, for the roof structure and an internal bridge linking the upper bedrooms.

Used as a summer house, the residence provides spacious accommodation so that several family units can enjoy it together comfortably, and benefit from two master bedrooms, both fitted with walk-in wardrobes.

Throughout the building, panoramic windows capture the exceptional views over surrounding nature.

The quality of design and detailing helped the recent sale of the property reach a $8m pricetag.
